Why every game got a new name
October 10, 2026
When Sketchpad Arcade opened, the games had the same names as their Beach Day Arcade twins. That was fine for a week, and then it was confusing: two sites, the same name, different art. So we renamed all of them.
From the beach to the desk
The new names come from the sketchbook: Margin Merge, Doodle Darts, Pencil Putt, Scribble Blocks, Paper Gates. A few got a bigger change than a name. Sonar Sub became Space Blaster, a retro shooter on grid paper with UFOs instead of sea creatures. Sea Glass became Space Glass, a colour-by-number of rockets and planets. Gem Cove became Chibi Chib, with big-eyed chibi animals to sort. Beach Link became No. 2 Pencil, drawn in plain pencil with classroom doodles that colour in when you tap them.
Still on the list
Some games have their new name but still carry their beach art inside, and we are working through them one at a time, drawing new characters and scenery to match the sketchbook. The goal for the whole site is the same: dark pencil outlines, bright coloured-pencil cross-hatching, and no ocean in sight. If a game looks a little beachy for now, that is why.
Old links still work. Every old game address redirects to the new one, so anything you bookmarked or shared will still land in the right place.
