Paper Plane Dash and ten real folds

October 13, 2026

Every game on Sketchpad Arcade so far has been a pencil-sketch twin of a Beach Day Arcade game. Paper Plane Dash is the first one that is ours alone.

Flying round a tube

The idea started as a lane runner, three lanes wide and three high, with the plane banking as it moved. We built that, played it, and it felt like a lot of other runners. So we tried something else: a round tube, drawn on black construction paper, with the plane flying along the inside wall. You touch the side of the tube you want to be on and the plane rolls round to it the short way, up the sides, over the top and back down, belly to the wall the whole way. It feels like nothing else on either site.

Real folds

The planes you unlock are all real folds. The Basic Glider, the Bulldog Dart, the Nakamura Lock, the Harrier, the Hammerhead, the Flying Wing, the Canard, the Stunt Plane and the Delta Wing. If you have ever folded one at a desk when you should have been doing something else, it is in the game. Stars unlock them, and every 600 metres turns to a new, faster sector page.

The junk in the tube is drawn from the same desk: crumpled paper balls in every construction-paper colour, erasers, pencil stubs, rulers and ink blots. Fly through a paper ring's gap for 50 points, and every ten stars starts Dart Mode, when your plane fires paper darts that pop everything straight ahead.
