Doodle SOS
A pencil-and-paper classic for two. Take turns writing an S or an O in the grid. Finish S-O-S in a line, across, down or corner to corner, and you score a point and go again. When the grid is full, the most SOS lines wins.
- Versus
- 6×6 grid
- Play a friend on one device, or the bot
- Easy, Medium and Hard bots
- Saves your record against the bot
How to play
- Pick who to play: a friend on the same device, or the bot.
- On your turn, choose S or O with the buttons under the grid, then tap an empty square.
- If your letter finishes S-O-S in any direction, it's drawn through in your colour, you score, and you go again.
- One letter can finish more than one SOS at once for extra points.
- When every square is filled, the player with the most points wins.
Controls
- Tap S or O to choose your letter, then tap a square to write it.
- New round clears the grid. Mode switches between a friend and the bot.
- The Sound button turns sound on or off.
Tips
- Before you write, look for S _ S gaps (write an O) and S O _ gaps (write an S).
- Don't leave an S and an O side by side with a gap: that hands the other player a point.
- Near the end, count the safe squares left. Sometimes the best move is the one that gives nothing away.
- Scoring keeps your turn going, so one good move can set up a chain of points.
About Doodle SOS
SOS has been played on scrap paper for a very long time. It looks simple, but it's a game of setting traps and dodging them.
Our version uses a 6×6 sketchbook grid and draws each SOS in the scorer's coloured pencil, so you can see who earned what at a glance.
