How to play

  1. Swipe across tiles that touch, including diagonals, to spell a word of 3 or more letters. Let go to score it.
  2. Each tile can be used once per word. The bar above the tray turns green for a new word, yellow for a word you already found, and gray if it isn't a word.
  3. Words score 100 points for 3 letters, 300 for 4, 600 for 5, 1,000 for 6, 1,500 for 7 and 2,200 for 8. A word that uses the gold-star tile scores double.
  4. Reach the page's target score before the 80 seconds run out to turn to the next page. Your total score carries over.
  5. Each new page has a higher target. Miss it and it's pencils down.

Controls

  • Phone or tablet: swipe your finger across the tiles, then lift it to score the word. Slide back one tile to undo it.
  • Computer: click and drag across the tiles, then let go.
  • Keyboard: type a word to light up its path, press Enter to score it, Backspace to delete a letter and Escape to clear.
  • The Qu tile counts as two letters, Q and U.
  • The speaker button turns sound on or off.

Tips

  • Look for endings like S, ED and ING. Adding them to a word you just found is a quick way to score again.
  • Start your search from the gold-star tile. Even a short word through it is worth double.
  • Three-letter words add up fast early on, but one long word can be worth ten short ones.
  • Vowels in the middle of the tray connect to the most neighbors, so build words around them.

About Letter Scramble

Letter Scramble is a timed word search on a four-by-four tray of paper letter tiles, each one a little torn notebook square with a pencil letter on it. Swipe across touching tiles, including diagonals, to spell words of three letters or more. Longer words are worth far more than short ones, and any word through the gold-star sticker tile scores double.

Each page gives you 80 seconds to hit a target score, and the target climbs with every page you turn. The word list is family-friendly and checked for real words. It is a quick, repeatable game that rewards vocabulary and a good eye for endings like S, ED and ING.
